BANPU beefs up Energy Technology Group’s management to establish strong foothold as integrated energy solutions company with ‘Greener & Smarter’ innovation and technology

Banpu Public Company Limited (BANPU) today announced a newly-reinforced team of top executives for its Energy Technology Business Group, comprising of Mr. James Rama Phataminviphas as Chief Executive Officer and Ms. Kanokwan Jitchobtham as Managing Director of Banpu Infinergy Co., Ltd. along with Mr. Chanit Suwanparin as Managing Director of Banpu Electric Vehicle Business.

The announcement is a move of the leading integrated energy solutions company in Asia-Pacific to gear up its Energy Technology Business Group towards innovation and technological development with ‘Greener & Smarter’ approach and its assured capability to meet multi-dimensional needs of modern-day consumers through an international business model that builds on smart city solutions.

Ms. Somruedee Chaimongkol, Chief Executive Officer of BANPU, said, “To achieve sustainable growth, BANPU consistently ensures that we stay abreast of abrupt changes in technology and consumer demands in the digital era. Besides, we are continuingly engaged in energy technology research and development alongside constant development of our people, business operation and management. Most recently, we have strengthened our high-level management team with appointment of business executives who are well-versed in technology and have insightful understanding of consumer behavior and their needs. They join our existing team members to drive BANPU forward with greater capability and optimum efficiency to meet the demands of consumers in the digitally-disrupted world.”

Mr. James Rama Phataminviphas, who was newly appointed as the first Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Infinergy, is responsible for business planning and strategies as well as overall management of Energy Technology Business Group. Under his helmsmanship, the Group will ensure its alignment with BANPU’s Greener & Smarter strategy and grow its competitiveness with expanded capability to offer much more comprehensive array of products, services and solutions.

Before joining BANPU, Mr. James has more than 24 years of multi-industry experiences that spanned across banking, finance and telecommunication. He is an executive keen in technology-driven business transformation to achieve greater efficiency and competitiveness. In banking sector, he was most recently Country Head of Channels and Digitalisation at United Overseas Bank (Thai) PCL, a position with more than 1,500 people under his leadership. With another high-level management position assumed earlier at Kasikornbank PCL, he was regarded as the youngest executive in Thailand’s banking industry. Mr. James is renowned for his depth in digital banking, strategic planning and people management. His open attitude towards human capital means that his people enjoy the opportunity to unleash their full potentials, including greater freedom in their decision-making and job execution as well as strong internal support for their skills and knowledge development. He also has extensive work experiences in Thai and overseas telecommunication markets including USA and China. Mr. James will play a key role to boost the growth potential of BANPU and help equip its people with more competitive strengths and greater work efficiency through his leadership.

Ms. Kanokwan Jitchobtham continues to serve as Managing Director of Banpu Infinergy, one-stop service provider of total solar energy solutions and smart city solutions. She is the key person in the management of Banpu Infinergy alongside Mr. James. Her key responsibilities include company management, business development, and pursuit of new opportunities to strengthen the business portfolio of Energy Technology Group.

Prior to her current position at Banpu Infinergy, Ms. Kanokwan has spent more than nine years working in BANPU’s legal department where she was engaged in contract management and project M&A in many countries that BANPU invested in. She has also been charged with many important management tasks over the years. Among them, she was part of the management team to steer BANPU’s organisational change during its major restructuring and she was one of the founding members of Banpu Infinergy, all of which have given her a deep understanding of BANPU’s businesses. As a leader, she is a visionary executive who keeps her watchful eyes on growth opportunities and partnerships that will further strengthen the business ecosystem of BANPU, such as investment in Sunseap Group Pte. Ltd., Durapower Technology (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., and FOMM Corporation. She is celebrated for her modern management style that coincides with BANPU’s culture, which welcomes opinions and encourages company’s people to think outside the box, enjoy being team players, and be resilient to the ever-changing business and market conditions.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chanit Suwanparin was appointed as Managing Director of Banpu Electric Vehicle Business. He will lead the EV business unit of BANPU with ‘mobility as a service’ concept, which is focused on offering end-to-end electric vehicle and mobility services by combining hardware and software technologies to deliver services and solutions that address current urban lifestyle needs and are highly compatible with the ongoing transition to the new energy sources. As head of Banpu Electric Vehicle Business, Mr. Chanit will also explore opportunities to extend the capability and competitiveness of Energy Technology Group in terms of technology and integrated solutions as well as delivery of all-encompassing services and solutions to the customers.

Mr. Chanit has more than 30 years of management experiences working in key roles to drive growth of many leading companies. He is recognised for his ingenuity and product development acumen, which often leverage innovation to add values to products and increase overall competitiveness of his companies. With extensive experiences and insights into consumer behaviors and ever-changing market trends, he has helped them pinpoint opportunities and drive targeted expansion into new market, consumer segments, and thus created new S Curves for their businesses. Prior to joining BANPU, he was Managing Director at T.A.C. Consumer PCL (TACC), where he was part of the executive team that successfully listed TACC on the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI). In addition to a long list of career highlights that included key positions at Green Spot Co., Ltd. (Vitamilk), Cerebos (Thailand) Ltd. and Unilever Holdings (Thailand) Ltd., he has also served as Secretary General of the Marketing Association of Thailand. Mr. Chanit is therefore very well positioned to strengthen BANPU’s business and help it capture new opportunities to offers services and solutions in accordance with the market trends and the preferences of today’s consumers.
