On 31 March 2021, Banpu Public Company Limited has been renewed the membership of Thai Private Sector Collective Action Against Corruption (CAC). This is the second time that Banpu received the three-year term certification reflecting the Company’s commitment to counter all types of corruption and to put in place good corporate governance policy and practices.

Mr. Virach Vudhidhanaseth, Company Secretary, representative of Banpu, received Drive Award 2018 (Strategy). The award presentation ceremony held at Chulalongkorn University Auditorium was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pasu Decharin, Dean of Faculty of Commerce and Accountancy, Chulalongkorn University, who presented the awards.

Drive Award 2018 for Strategy is awarded to a corporate which has demonstrated outstanding results in driving the society and industry, and is prominent in the following aspects; 1) Business Strategy – the corporate must have distinguished strategic direction, be a leader in the industry, focus on the sustainable human resources management, and promote continuous research and development, as well as has clear corporate strategy communications throughout organization. 2) Good Governance – is determined by the corporate social responsibility projects, environmental management, cultural and ethical promotion, and care for shareholders and partners.

On 7 June 2018, Mr. Virach Vudhidhanaseth, Company Secretary of Banpu Public Company Limited, represented the Company in the receiving of Thailand’s Private Sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) Member Certification from Dr. Kopr Kritayakirana, Vice Chairman of the Private Sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption Council, at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit hotel. This is the second time that Banpu received the three-year term certification emphasizing the Company’s commitment to counter all types of corruption and to put in place good corporate governance policy and pratices.

The Private Sector Collective Action Coalition Against Corruption (CAC) was commenced by Thailand’s partner organizations in private sector. The initiative aims to promote the exercise of effective anti-corruption policy and put the anti-bribery mechanism into practice in order to create a strong network of clean business and expand the collective action to tackle corruption.

The Awards were jointly established by the Sub-Committee on Corporate Governance in Thailand, the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), the Board of Trade of Thailand, The Federation of Thai Industries, The Thai Bankers’ Association, Thai Listed Companies Association, Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations, and The Stock Exchange of Thailand, to honor boards of directors of Thai listed companies that distinguish themselves in performing in accordance with good corporate governance principles.


Banpu was ranked one of the Top 52 Listed Companies with Excellent Corporate Governance Scoring, according to the Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies 2009. The Report was developed by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).


Banpu was awarded as one of the Top Three Listed Companies with Excellence in Investor Relations out of the SET50 listed companies, and one of the Top 10 Listed Companies with Excellence in CSR. The awards were co-organized by the SET and the Money & Banking Magazine.


According to the 2008 corporate governance survey of Thai listed companies, Banpu was ranked one of the Top 22 Listed Companies with Excellence in Corporate Governance. Organized by the National Corporate Governance Committee, in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the survey was conducted among 448 listed companies based on five major criteria: shareholders’ rights, equitable treatment of shareholders, roles of stakeholders, disclosure and transparency, and the Board’s responsibilities.


Banpu was awarded the ‘Best-Managed (Large-Cap) Company’ in Thailand by AsiaMoney, the world’s leading financial magazine. The award was based on survey results from fund managers, analysts and investors in the country, and took into consideration the 2008 overall performance of large-cap corporations in Asia according to the following criteria: business performance, management strategy and vision, investor relations, management information disclosure and transparency, corporate governance, as well as focus on shareholders’ benefits and operational efficiency.


Banpu was awarded the ‘Best-Managed (Large-Cap) Company’ in Thailand by AsiaMoney, the world’s leading financial magazine. The award was based on survey results from fund managers, analysts and investors in the country and took into consideration the 2007 overall performance of large-cap corporations in Asia according to the following criteria: business performance, management strategy and vision, investor relations, management information disclosure and transparency, corporate governance, as well as focus on shareholders’ benefits and operational efficiency. In addition, Mr. Virach Makaranithiroj, Banpu’s Investor Relations Manager, also won in the ‘2007 Best Investor Relations Officer’ category.


Banpu was awarded the ‘2006/07 Board of the Year for Distinctive Practices’. The ‘Board of the Year’ Award was jointly organized by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), the Board of Trade of Thailand, The Federation of Thai Industries, The Thai Bankers’ Association, Thai Listed Companies Association, and Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations. The ‘Board of the Year for Distinctive Practices’ Award is given to honor the Boards of Directors who based on good corporate governance principles have performed with distinction.


Banpu received from Forbes Magazine the ‘Best Under a Billion’ Award, which was given to 200 publicly traded companies with total sales of under 1 billion US Dollars in the Asia Pacific region, a good track record on sustained growth and profitability, as well as management teams with business models focusing on both domestic and international sales.

Banpu was ranked one of the Top Three Listed Companies with Excellence in Investor Relations out of the SET50 listed companies, and one of the Top 10 Listed Companies with Excellence in CSR. The awards were co-organized by the SET and the Money & Banking Magazine.


Banpu was ranked by AsiaMoney Magazine as Thailand’s ‘Medium-Cap Corporate of the Year’, based on results of the survey called ‘Best Managed Company Poll – Thailand’ conducted by the Magazine with analysts and fund managers across Asia. In addition, Banpu was also ranked in other prestigious categories including:

Banpu received the ‘2006 Asia’s Best Managed Companies in the Metals & Mining Sector’ certificate from Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc. The award was based on a survey of market analysts at 67 leading banks and research institutes in Asia, on the criteria of business strength, profitability, growth potential and management quality.

According to the Institutional Investor Magazine’s 2005 Asia Investor Relations rankings, Ms.Somruedee Chaimongkol, SVP – Finance, was voted by sell-side analysts and investment professionals as the ‘Asia’s Best CFO’ in the metals and mining industry. The rankings were listed according to the views of 251 investors, who based their evaluation on the primary criteria of investor relations effectiveness, which consists of transparency and quality of financial reporting; information disclosure; access to senior management; provision of industry information; as well as the clarity, depth and speed in response to inquiries.

The poll was conducted with investors and analysts from 145 leading fund-management firms, hedge funds, and brokerage firms in the Asia-Pacific region. According to the Institutional Investor Magazine’s 2004 Asia Investor Relations rankings, Mr.Chanin Vongkusolkit, Banpu CEO, together with Mrs.Somruedee Chaimongkol, SVP – Finance, were voted by sell-side analysts and investment professionals as the ‘Asia’s Best CEO and CFO’ in the metals and mining industry. The award was given to recognize Thai listed companies that excelled in reporting their compliance with the SET’s 15 corporate governance principles, by taking into consideration the annual registration statements (Form 56-1), annual reports, invitation letters to shareholders’ meetings, and minutes of shareholders’ annual general meetings.


Banpu was selected one of the Top 85 Listed Companies with Outstanding Corporate Governance, according to a corporate governance survey organized by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD in collaboration with The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC). The award was given to companies qualifying in five major criteria: shareholders’ rights, equitable treatment of shareholders, roles of stakeholders, disclosure and transparency, and the Board’s responsibilities. Information used in the IOD’s assessment comes from annual reports, annual registration statements (Form 56-1), invitation letters to shareholders’ meetings, minutes of the shareholders’ meetings, the company’s website, corporate information disseminated through the SET and the SEC, as well as other information released to the general public.


Banpu was named one of the Top Five Thai Listed Companies for Outstanding Information Disclosure by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Governance Services and the Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting Centre. Among the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s 50 listed companies included in the S&P’s study group, Banpu was recognized for its outstanding disclosure of corporate governance information. The study, conducted by S&P’s Governance Services, evaluates good corporate governance principles based on the latest information disclosed in each company’s annual report.


Banpu was awarded as one of Thailand’s Best Companies in Finance Asia Magazine’s ‘2004 Asia’s Best Companies’ poll under the following five categories:

Banpu was rated as one of the companies in the top quartile of ‘Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies’, according to the survey conducted by IOD with 337 listed companies.


Based on a survey of the total 234 listed companies, Banpu was ranked by the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) as one of the top 50 companies with good corporate governance. The survey results were announced in the ’Strengthening Corporate Governance Practices in Thailand 2002’ report at the ‘Disclosure of Thai Listed Companies’ Corporate Governance Assessment’ seminar which has been organized for three consecutive years. This serves as another source of pride for Banpu, as it reflects the Company’s continuous implementation of good corporate governance standards.


Banpu was granted an upgrade in credibility from “A-” to “A” by TRIS Rating Company Limited.


Banpu received the ‘Disclosure Report Award’ from the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) for the Company’s clarity of information disclosure and its compliance with disclosure requirements, as stated in both the Information Disclosure Report and the 2002 Financial Statement.


Banpu was awarded the ‘Best Corporate Governance Report’ at the SET Awards 2003, organized by The Stock Exchange of Thailand and the Money & Banking Magazine, to honor listed companies, brokerage firms and asset management companies with excellence. The Award was given to listed companies with outstanding compliance to the good corporate governance practices, by taking into consideration annual registration statements (Form 56-1), annual reports, invitation letters to shareholders’ meetings, and minutes of shareholders’ meetings. In addition, Banpu was one of the four companies that qualified for the final round to win the ‘Best Performance – Resources’ award.


Banpu was awarded by the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) the ‘Board of the Year’, reflecting the Board’s outstanding capability; its efforts to promote compliance with corporate governance practices, as well as its role as shareholders’ representative.

Banpu was ranked 6th on the ‘Thailand’s Best Corporate Governance Companies’ list, based on the result of a survey conducted by The Asset Magazine with worldwide financial investors who invest in the Asian stock market.


Banpu was granted an “A-” rating for corporate credibility by TRIS Rating Company Limited.


Banpu was ranked in the top quartile of ‘Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies’, based on the survey conducted by IOD with 133 listed companies and by taking into consideration the annual registration statements (Form 56-1), annual reports, invitation letters and proxy forms to the shareholders’ annual meetings, minutes of the shareholders’ meetings, the company’s website, corporate information disseminated through the SET and the SEC, as well as other information released to the general public. The survey criteria were based on the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)’s five principles:

• Shareholders’ rights
• Equitable treatment of shareholders
• Roles of stakeholders
• Disclosure and transparency
• The Board of Directors’ responsibilities
