Banpu Public Company Limited, a leading international versatile energy provider, and Mahidol University’s Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies are inviting green-minded high school students from across the country to apply for the online “Power Green Camp 16”. “ECO Living & Learning – Shifting to a Green Lifestyle to Embrace the New Normal” is the theme for this year’s camp. At the Power Green Camp, young participants will learn about eco-friendly living through a wide array of topics they can practically apply in the current circumstances, where everyone is spending more time doing activities at home. Learning activities led by experts include both theoretical training and hands-on experience with lab kits and supplies mailed to students’ homes to enhance limitless learning.
From 16 October to 21 November 2021 on holiday and every weekend, 40 selected high school students will participate in online learning activities guided by the concept “Envi-Science: Learning Through Actions.” Starting with the Transformative Learning Activity, which will build the foundation in science by sharpening participants’ soft skills such as creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The activity also allows young participants to make new friends before embarking on their learning journey together. Highlights are experiments on 3 topics: 1) examining the properties of soil around the house, 2) building a grease trap, and 3) converting food waste into organic fertilizer. Each participant will receive a standard laboratory kit worth THB 10,000, provided free of charge by the camp. In addition, the participants will have the opportunity to hone their presentation skills to win over the audience, which will be beneficial for the last activity of this camp – the science project competition. In the competition, teams of participants will pool their knowledge to generate ideas or concepts on living in harmony with the environment, and the winning teams will be awarded scholarships worth more than THB 100,000.
