“Power Green Camp12” Calls for Applications from Environmentally Minded Science Major High Schoolers Learning How to Manage Biodiversity toward Community Development in Thailand 4.0
Banpu Public Company Limited and the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, jointly call for applications from Grades 10 -11 science major students to participate in the Power Green Camp12 under the theme “‘Balancing Economics, Community and Biodiversity towards Thailand 4.0 Era” during the school break during 6-13 October 2017 at the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, Salaya Campus.
70 successful applicants will win a chance to learn more about the importance and conservation of biodiversity from lecturers and academic professionals in the field of environmental science and get hands-on experience from workshops as well as field trips to Chonburi and Rayong provinces. Camp participants will gain more knowledge about how to manage a balance of business operations, marine conservation and community development at the BLCP Power Plant and observe particular flora and fauna species in Thung Prong Thong Field, Prasae River Mouth, in Rayong. Furthermore, the young participants will get to learn how to use IT to search and gather information about natural resources for further analysis and planning for biodiversity management in Thailand 4.0 at Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) in Chonburi. Camp participants will have an opportunity to apply their knowledge and experience from every activity into their environmental science group projects, which are eligible to win scholarships worth a total of THB 30,000 and an environmental excursion abroad.

About the Power Green Camp
The Power Green Camp, an environmental science youth camp, has been organized since 2006, as a collaborative project between the Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies, Mahidol University, and Banpu Public Company Limited. With its underlying concept “Environmental science – transforming learning into practice”, the camp aims to equip high-school students with knowledge about environmental science and the ability to systematically apply scientific solutions to environmental problems in order to raise environmental awareness among the youths. In addition, this camp will groom and create a network of young environmental leaders. The camp’s target participants are Grades 11-12 science-program students nationwide.
