BANPU Champions for Change invites applications for social enterprise program from young Thai people nationwide today
Bangkok 19 May 2011 – “The BANPU Champions for Change” program by Banpu Public Company Limited is inviting young Thai people aged 20 – 30 years nationwide to tender applications for financial support and incubation to run their own Social Enterprise projects that give back to the society in a constructive way. To apply for the funds, interested Thai youngsters are encouraged to form themselves into a group of up to 4 members and submit their own social enterprise-based initiatives on the topic that is of the most interest to them. Entries are open from today until June 30, 2011.
The entries that are eligible to receive funds from the “BANPU Champions for Change” are those that have an explicit goal of improving Thai communities or the environment as well as demonstrate a long-term commitment to the society. Selected entries will each receive 50,000 Baht fund for Phase 1 implementation which runs for 3 months. The initiatives that have the best outcome will each receive up to 200,000 Baht to continue with the Phase 2 implementation for another six months. “BANPU Champions for Change” is one of the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs run by Banpu Plc. The program is undertaken under the concept, “Learning… a Power of Change and Development”, focusing on promoting “education and learning” for children and young people as education and learning leads to constructive change and sustainable development of “people” and the “society”. “BANPU Champions for Change” is open to modern young people nationwide to create and implement their own social enterprise initiatives that are of tangible benefits to the Thai society. It will also give these young social entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn through real life practice as well as to initiate social enterprise activities that are in line with their own interest and expertise. They will have a chance to learn how to apply their skill in running such initiatives for their own future purpose and learn how to return the financial outcome to the Thai society in the future.
