2. Foster the “Ideate and Get Real” Behavior to Spark Employees’ Ideas and Drive Practical Innovation
The “Ideate and Get Real” is one of Banpu’s preferred behaviors, reflecting the Company’s corporate value of innovation. This behavior promotes a systematic innovation — from idea generation to project planning and execution — through various programs, such as UnBox iDeas, a creative sandbox that empowers employees to explore and test creatively problem-solving approaches. These efforts are supported and guided by the Banpu Innovation Group Committee, which utilizes Design Thinking and the Scrum Frameworks to develop new products, services, and work processes that effectively respond to industry trends and evolving business needs.
3. Upskill People as the Driving Force of Innovation
Banpu’s leadership development programs are continuously refined to enhance creativity and innovative thinking. One of the key initiatives is the Banpu Global Innovation Awards, which provides opportunities for employees from all nine countries where Banpu operates to present innovation projects that create business value, while also serving as a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration across the organization.
From Ideas to Tangible Results: A Journey Toward National Recognition
For over 40 years, Banpu has been committed to driving innovation within the organization through clear strategic direction and systematic process management. This has led to turning innovative ideas into tangible business developments.

Dr. Kirana Limpaphayom, Chief Operating Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited, stated, “Innovation is a key strategy that drives Banpu’s growth and creates value for the Company. Over the years, we have initiated more than 1,600 innovative ideas, and in the past three years, over 160 of these ideas have been developed into projects to improve efficiency, reduce costs, optimize business processes, and create new business opportunities that strengthen Banpu’s business ecosystem.
Examples of projects that successfully applied innovation in business include the Barnett Zero project in the U.S., which utilizes a Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) technology to enhance value of Banpu’s natural gas business chain in the U.S. Currently, it captures an average of 183,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year. Another example is the Biomass Co-firing Project at the Zhengding combined heat and power (CHP) plant in China, which helps maintain the plant’s thermal efficiency, while reducing costs and carbon emissions. These projects play a critical role in supporting Banpu’s journey toward achieving Net Zero by 2050.”

Banpu’s dedication to promoting innovation within the organization has recently been recognized with the 2025 National Innovation Awards for Innovative Organization, presented by the National Innovation Agency (Public Organization). This award is given to organizations that consistently apply knowledge, technology, and creativity to create sustainable value and growth.
