- At Gastech 2026, Banpu showcases its closed-loop strategy for a gas-to-power value chain, connecting natural gas production, midstream infrastructure, power generation, and CCUS, with Carbon-Sequestered Gas (CSG) supporting reliable, lower-carbon energy supply with greater flexibility.
- An integrated energy platform brings together complementary capabilities to help meet growing global energy demand while strengthening energy security.
Banpu Public Company Limited, a leading versatile energy company, is spotlighting its U.S. Closed-Loop Gas platform at Gastech 2026, spanning natural gas production, midstream infrastructure, power generation, and Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration (CCUS). Under the theme “The Future Flows Circular,” the showcase demonstrates how Banpu’s integrated energy platform supports reliable, scalable, and lower-carbon energy solutions, helping strengthen energy security and meet rising global energy demand.
Through Gastech 2026, Banpu reinforces its early-mover advantage in the U.S. market through BKV Corporation, its majority-owned energy company in the U.S., which is one of the top 15 gas-weighted natural gas producers in the U.S. and the largest natural gas producer by gross operated volume in the Barnett Shale, Texas. With upstream natural gas reserves, 1.5 GW of Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) assets in Texas, and three operating CCS projects, BKV’s closed-loop gas strategy brings these capabilities together into a single platform that spans the energy value chain. This closed-loop model offers a single commercial relationship that simplifies access to energy solutions, giving customers and business partners greater flexibility and opportunities to create long-term value.
With U.S. natural gas demand projected to increase by approximately 25% by 2030* and ERCOT demand potentially growing more than 21 times by 2032**, BKV is advancing the potential development of an integrated Energy Complex in Jack County, Texas. With approximately 6,200 acres under site control and generation and load applications submitted, the North Texas Energy Complex project represents an opportunity to combine natural gas production, power generation, and carbon capture capabilities to serve growing power demand in ERCOT. In parallel, BKV’s carbon sequestration capabilities are being expanded through the development of additional projects, including East Texas, while three CCS projects, Barnett Zero, Cotton Cove, and Eagle Ford, continue to operate, enabling greater integration between energy solutions and carbon management. Together, these developments support a target CO₂ injection run-rate of approximately 1.5 million metric tons per annum in 2028.

Mr. Sinon Vongkusolkit, Chief Executive Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited, said, “As global energy demand continues to rise, economies and industries are facing a growing need for reliable energy, greater flexibility, and practical solutions to manage emissions. BKV’s closed-loop strategy addresses these challenges by delivering energy solutions like Carbon-Sequestered Gas (CSG), a Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon neutral natural gas product enabled by CCUS operations. The platform is supported by a strong upstream gas base, quality reserves, and capital-efficient operations, which complement its power generation and CCUS capabilities. Together, I believe these strengths position the platform to meet evolving market needs while generating sustainable cash flows and long-term value.”
Beyond the U.S. Closed-Loop Gas, Banpu extends this integrated approach across complementary capabilities in energy resources, power generation, and future energy technologies to address growing needs for energy and resource security, power availability, and practical approaches toward decarbonization. Next-Gen Mining strengthens resource availability while advancing strategic minerals for batteries, energy storage, and future infrastructure, reinforcing supply chains for strategic industries; Power+ helps address power availability, an increasingly critical bottleneck as energy demand grows, through flexible and integrated power solutions; and Future Tech advances Net Zero Solutions that combine reliable and cost-efficient energy with practical support for decarbonization, while investing through its Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) in AI and future energy technologies with the potential to shape the next generation of energy solutions.
“The U.S. Closed-Loop Gas platform serves as one of Banpu Group’s key growth engines. By creating synergies across upstream gas, power generation, and decarbonization, it enables Banpu to advance both business growth and the energy transition, while unlocking further opportunities to expand the natural gas business and strengthen its long-term competitive position,” Mr. Sinon added.
