BANPU Transforms Artspace into the “Portrait of Passion” Photography Exhibition at the River City Bangkok, Offering Free Entry until September 15th

  • BANPU and Vin Buddy invite Thai people to discover Passion and Inspiration through 13 captivating stories of individuals dedicated to enhancing their potential for a better society.

Banpu Public Company Limited is teaming up with renowned Thai photographer “Vin Buddy” Phurit Netimongkolchai to create the “Portrait of Passion” photography exhibition at River City Bangkok, showcasing the potential and inspiration of “people” who have developed their skills through Banpu’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The exhibit aims to inspire others to create positive change for their local community, broader society, and the environment. The event also marks the unveiling of Banpu’s Purpose-driven CSR under the new theme “Embracing Potential, Energizing People”, commemorating Banpu’s fifth decade of operation. This new direction emphasizes creating tangible positive impacts on communities, society, and the environment through human potential development. The exhibition is open free of charge to youth, students, and the public from now until September 15, 2024.

Mr. Phurit Netimongkolchai (Vin Buddy), the renowned photographer behind the works showcased in “Portrait of Passion”, said, “The ‘Portrait of Passion’ photography exhibition marks the first collaboration between Banpu and me, and it’s been a truly challenging experience. My task was to convey the power of individuals through the power of photography, and so the photos on display needed to capture the emotions, the passion, and the dedication of those striving to make a difference in the world. Most importantly, every image had to resonate with viewers and benefit society as well.”

Capturing each photograph posed its unique challenge as Mr. Phurit or Vin Buddy had to get to know the young participants of the Power Green Camp, the coach and the athletes of the Banpu Table Tennis Club (BTTC), and the social entrepreneurs from the Banpu Champions for Change (BC4C) program. Vin Buddy even had to experience life through the eyes of a local in Ban Huay Ma Nok Kee of Tak province, where Banpu installed a solar energy to improve livelihoods and education.

Mr. Phurit continued, “Everyone is a ‘hero’ in their own way, dedicating themselves to their goals with the hope of witnessing positive change in the world. After hearing their stories, their energies imbued me with the desire to share these narratives through photographs. I hope that these 46 photos will empower viewers, ignite inspiration to discover hidden potential, and encourage everyone to help build a better society.”

However, the event was more than just clicking the shutter and capturing images, rather it was about communicating to the audience clearly and comprehensively, ensuring that each photograph tells a story about BANPU’s contributions to society, capturing the emotions of the people reflected in their joyful eyes. The picture that impressed me the most was of the children in Ban Huay Ma Nok Kee, Tak province, filled with joy under the solar-powered light provided by Banpu. While it’s just ordinary light for most of us, for children in these remote areas, it holds a much deeper meaning.

Mr. Sinon Vongkusolkit, CEO of Banpu Public Company Limited, stated, “Banpu prioritizes human development both within and outside the organization because we believe that ‘people’ are the foundation for societal progress. This mindset has led us to redefine our approach to social initiatives as Banpu enters its fifth decade. We are now focusing on developing human potential under the concept of ‘Embracing Potential, Energizing People,’ connecting our organizational priorities with the values we want to foster in society.

The ‘Portrait of Passion’ photography exhibition marks the official launch of our redefined CSR approach. The exhibition showcases the dedication of individuals who have been empowered through Banpu’s CSR initiatives. We extend our gratitude to Mr.Phurit Netimongkolchai for masterfully capturing and conveying these stories through his lens. We also thank our partners, the individuals featured in the photographs, and everyone involved for sharing their inspiring journeys.”
