Mining
Method
Indominco
is an open-pit mine of world class standard operated
by truck & shovel as well as some direct dozing
of waste. Production facilities can handle up
to 13 million tonnes per year.
Transportation
The coal handling and loading facilities
were completed in 1999. The mine stockyard and
port
stockyard contain identical twin boom stackers.
Coal is truck hauled 35 km from the mine stockyard
to
the port stockyard. A 6-kilometer conveyor connects
the port stockyard to ship loading facilities,
which supports vessels of up to 90,000 tonnes.
Markets
Indominco has established a strong customer
base with the major electrical utility companies
in Japan, Taiwan, and Korea. |
