Banpu
was named one of the five
Thai listed companies for its
outstanding disclosure of information
by Standard & Poor’s Governance
Services and Corporate Governance
& Financial Reporting Centre.
Out of the 50 listed companies
in the Stock Exchange of Thailand
included in the S&P’s study
group, Banpu is praised for its
outstanding disclosure of corporate
governance information. Standard
& Poor’s Governance Services
bases its study on the latest
information disclosed in each
company’s annual report on the
basis of the good corporate governance
principle.
Banpu
was selected one of the
85 listed companies with outstanding
corporate governance according to a good corporate
governance survey organized by
the Institute of Director (IOD)
in collaboration with the Stock
Exchange of Thailand (SET) and
the Office of the Securities and
Exchange Commission (SEC).
The award was given to companies
meeting five major criteria; namely,
shareholders’ rights, equal treatment
to shareholders, roles of stakeholders,
disclosure of information and
transparency and liabilities of
the board of directors. Information
used in the IOD’s assessment comes
from annual report, annual registrations
statement (Form 56-1), invitation
letter to attend the meeting,
minutes of the shareholders’ meeting,
company’s website, corporate information
disseminated through the SET and
the SEC as well as other information
released to the public.
Banpu
received the Best Corporate
Governance Report Award at SET
AWARDS 2004 program,
arranged by Stock Exchange
of Thailand (SET) in
collaboration with Money and Banking
Magazine. It aims to promote Thai
listed companies that excel in
reporting their compliance with
the 15 corporate governance principles
launched by the SET in forms 56-1,
annual reports, invitation letters
for shareholder’s meeting and
minutes of shareholder’s annual
general meeting.
Institutional
Investor Magazine recently
announced the release of the 2004
Asia Investor Relations rankings.
Our CEO, Mr.Chanin Vongkusolkit,
and also Ms.Somruedee Chaimongkol,
SVP – Finance were considered
by sell-side analysts and investment
professionals as "Best
Asia" CEOs and CFOs
in the metals and mining business.
The 2004 rankings of investor
relations was based on the views
of 227 investors at 23 Asian firms
which considered the significant
criteria to evaluate the effectiveness
of investor relations such as
transparency and quality of financial
reporting and disclosure, access
to senior management, provision
of industry information and clarity,
depth and speed in response to
inquiries.
