Safety Management
Within Banpu, staff is the key factor behind our business development and success. For this reason,
the Company pays close attention to staff’s occupational health and safety. We have adopted practices
that are standards at an international level (such as OHSAS 18001) to prevent risks resulting from business
and environment by incorporating them as part of our occupational health and safety management system.
This system is not meant for only our staff but is expanded to include all contractors or subcontractors who
are undertaking work on our premises.

For coal mining in particular, extra efforts have been made to exert strict control over the fatality and
injury rates of our mining contractors by investing in an environmental, health and safety management
system for contractors called ‘Contractor’s EHS Management System.

In recent years, Banpu has also revised its emergency and crisis preparedness and response plan to cover
the entire company, starting from Banpu’s headquarters and extending to its country offices, sites and
plants in all locations.
