Quality, Safety and Environmental (QSE) Management may not in and of itself provide explicit
outcomes that are measurable in financial terms. Nonetheless, it is implicitly the underlying foundation
of business sustainability. As an integral part of core business activities ranging from business and
project development to operations, marketing, sales, and logistics, the principles and practices related
to quality, safety, and environmental management contribute greatly toward the securing of licenses
to operate and towards sharpening competitiveness.
At Banpu, business functions held accountable for promoting quality, safety, and environmental
management are clearly stated at all levels of the organizational structure, from the corporate level,
through to country offices and every operational site. Governance of quality, safety, and
environment is based primarily on the management line of command with support from related QSE
functions to anticipate the concerns of stakeholders and identify opportunities for improvement.
To this end, QSE management standards and technical guidelines were established in 2006 to provide
a framework within which all business operations across the company could integrate QSE
precautionary practices as appropriate. To further assure the effectiveness of QSE governance, a
performance and incident reporting system have been developed to standardize group-wide
performances and enable efficient and continuous improvements. |
